It feels good to do something that helps the Earth, like a simple choice to use compostable paper coffee cups. When you toss a standard paper cup in the garbage, it can linger in a landfill for years. It's due to the plastic lining in the cup. But the compostable cups work much more quickly, said Mr. Schafer of Sowinpak. They can become compost, a nutrient-filled soil product that helps plants flourish. “Imagine throwing away a cup and knowing that it is going to go help flowers and trees, as opposed to sitting in a dump.
Plus, when we’re serving water in compostable cups, we get to reduce the amount of waste production. If more people start using these cups, we can cut down on how many regular paper cups wind up in landfills. That little switch can reap big dividends! Plus, compostable cups are constructed of materials such as plant fibers. That’s because they’re renewable, a positive step up compared to things that can be depleted. Enjoying coffee from a Sowinpak cup means you’ve made an eco-friendly decision. Every small action counts!
Compostable paper coffee cups are fantastic for the environment. Our compostable cups are made out of materials that decompose naturally, not ones coated in plastic such as the standard issue paper versions. That is, when you throw them out, they can join the soil rather than lying dormant in a landfill for many years. By using these cups, you are indirectly helping reduce waste disposal and littering, which is good for saving our planet from dirty disruptions. At our company, Sowinpak, we ensure that our compostable cups are made from safe and naturally occurring materials. That means that not only are they better for the Earth; they are also safe for people.
One easy improvement: Use compostable cups. Many people drink coffee from disposable cups, which can create a substantial amount of trash. We can bring that number of cups to the landfill down if we use compostable cups instead. Compostable cups will decompose in compost and create a nutrient-rich soil that could be used to grow more plants. Plastered as chewed-up cardboard, the process is infinitely kinder to the Earth than plastic cups, which can take hundreds of years to decompose. We want to make things simple—use compostable cups and help keep the earth clean, while reminding each other that we can all do something to think of this planet. Sowinpak is excited to bring you these compostable cups that make the world a better place, our home safer and cleaner all at the same time.

While compostable paper coffee cups is an excellent option, people often run into some problems when using them. One frustrating issue is that people don’t know what to do with those cups when they’re done using them. Some may believe they can put them in the regular trash, but that’s not the optimal option. When compostable cups ended up in a landfill, officials said, they did not always decompose as expected because there was not enough air and the right conditions. This can lead to confusion. The solution to this is that businesses and coffee shops need clear signage telling people where they can dispose of these cups. We would ask all of our partners to help their customers to learn to dispose correctly.
Another problem is that occasionally, people believe compostable cups aren’t as strong or reliable as regular ones. However, this is not true! Compostable cups can be manufactured in exactly the same type as regular cups, for hot liquids. They are made to be durable and safe for beverages such as coffee or tea. Teaching people about those features will enable them to feel more at ease using compostable cups. "I suspect there's going to be a significant number of people who are just going to object because business makes it more complicated," said Darien Fenton, an advocate for workers at New Zealand's Council of Trade Unions. "And of those who do apply, some will have had experiences with the privacy act where they've been turned away or the service agreement is so onerous it seems easier to opt out." And there's also the issue of cost. Compostable cups might be more expensive than regular ones, but for the planet, it’s worth the price. It's worth bearing in mind that when we opt for compostable products, it is an investment in a healthier planet for all of us. Through better information and education, we can alter how people view and use compostable paper coffee cups.

To achieve the highest rate of being green, compostable paper coffee cups need to be disposed of properly. First, find out whether your community has a composting program. Compostable materials have special bins in many cities. Find out if they do, and if so, be sure to deposit your used cups in those containers! Sowinpak suggests contacting your local coffee shop and asking whether they have a composting program or where you can properly trash the cups. If they do, you can help by tossing your drink into the proper bin when you’re done.
